College’s Board of Directors Welcomes Newest Member: John Zimmer of FOCUS
At their February board meeting, the College’s Board of Directors elected a new member to their number: John Zimmer, currently serving as a vice president for FOCUS. “We are pleased to welcome John to the Board,” says Dr. Glenn Arbery, the College’s president. “His work with Catholic college students at FOCUS has given him a great many insights into the challenges of ministering to and administering a community like ours. I and the College’s directors are eager for the opportunity to draw upon those insights.”
“As someone whose relationship with God was significantly challenged when I was at college,” says John, “I know how formative these years are in the lives of young Catholics. I’ve been a huge fan of Wyoming Catholic’s unique approach to education for a long time, with particular affection for its amazing outdoor program and missionary efforts with COR Expeditions. We need disciples of Jesus Christ who are equipped to share their faith with others, and I look forward to helping Wyoming Catholic continue to form and develop leaders who will impact the world for generations to come.”
Zimmer is Vice President of Apostolic Development for FOCUS, the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, helping ensure the excellence of the mission in the field, directing its internal and external communications, and leading its partnerships and church relationships. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington in Seattle, and holds a Masters Degree in Business from the University of Denver, and a Masters Degree in Theology from the Augustine Institute, also of Denver. Prior to joining FOCUS, he worked in corporate technology sales. Since joining FOCUS in 1999, he has served in a variety of roles, including serving as a campus missionary, directing the national apostolate and overseeing the training and formation of the missionary staff. John speaks and teaches throughout the country on leadership, evangelization and apologetics. John lives in Centennial, Colorado, with his wife, Barbara and their children.
