For many new students at Wyoming Catholic College, it is a rejuvenating experience to finally be immersed in a vibrant, genuine, and tight-knit Catholic community.
The spirit of our communal life is striking. When our students are not engaged in their studies, they are often making music, whether it is sacred Gregorian chant with our stellar choir or casual folk music around a bonfire. They are also frequently involved in intramural sports, including basketball, volleyball, frisbee, soccer, and football.
The beautiful Wyoming mountains are only a short drive away, always beckoning our students to go rock climbing, rappelling, caving, mountain biking, skiing, or backpacking. Card games, debates, meaningful conversations, dances, and group prayer are other wonderful activities that enliven our student life.
You will discover that life at WCC is a continual adventure in joy, beauty, and friendship.
The Annual School-Wide Games to Celebrate our Lady are so fun!
Each year the students compete in the Ludi Mariales (Marian Games) in honor of Our Lady. These games, modeled after the Greek Funeral Games from Homer’s Illiad, have the students competing in feats of skill, strength, agility, and speed. Events include sword fighting, boulder toss, discus, crate stacking, ultimate frisbee, and more.
Part charades, part Trivial Pursuit and part sophistry.
Each February in honor of our Patroness, Our Lady Seat of Wisdom, three teams of students compete in a battle of wits and intelligence. This game is part Trivial Pursuit, part charades, and part sophistry. The professors ask the students a variety of questions to challenge their knowledge, creativity, and rhetorical prowess.
A week of fun to celebrate our school spirit
We love our school! To show our school (and class) spirit, Spirit Week gives the students an opportunity to come up with creative costumes to meet the theme of the day. The culmination is the Class Color War which transforms Frassati Dining Hall into a patchwork of green, yellow, blue, and brown.
Every year our students have the opportunity to attend an extracurricular weekend trip to Salt Lake City to experience Ballet West or the Utah Opera! The event is always popular with our students and includes a festive dinner, time to explore downtown SLC, and Sunday Mass at the Cathedral of the Madeleine.
Dancing is a big part of life at WCC. Our community enjoys four dances a year, each hosted by one of the current classes. Three are centered around major feast days- All Saints Day, Christmas, Candlemas- and the fourth is our Senior Send-Off in late spring. Students also have the opportunity to practice their dancing skills with weekly lessons and practices for swing, waltz, tango, English country dancing, and other ballroom and traditional dances.
Several times a semester, the Office of Student Life, and members of the college leadership, including the College President gather to discourse with students. This event is an opportunity for the students to vocalize questions and concerns, as well as spend quality time with important staff members. Few colleges are able to offer such access and interaction with the President and other staff.
All WCC students are required to live on campus all four years in single-sex dormitories. All dorms are staffed by an upperclassmen student prefect, who arranges social events for the dorm (such as movie nights or outdoor adventures) and also serves as a contact and liaison in case of an emergency.
All WCC residences intentionally include students from throughout the program (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors) to allow for inter-class friendships, mentoring, and intellectual conversations outside of the classroom.
Several times a semester, the faculty & staff host talks and discussion groups specifically for the men and women students of the college. These events cover a variety of topics pertaining to life as a young adult Catholic, and subject matter is open to student requests.
Throughout the year, different intramural sports are offered. All students are welcome to participate regardless of previous experience.
Sports include: basketball, volleyball, soccer, ultimate frisbee, and flag football.
Students have access to a variety of fitness options in Lander. Access to these is included with Room and Board for all students.
High Mountain Fitness features a newly built fitness complex just near campus and offers 24/7 access to the facility.
Lander Swimming Pool offers students an opportunity to swim laps or enjoy free swimming time.
Wyoming Catholic College invests in more than sports for their own sake. We invest in students’ ability to recreate and have fun while also forming mature habits of caring for others, pushing themselves beyond their comfort zones, and teaching others new skills. Rock-climbing, horsemanship, rappelling, skiing, ice climbing and backpacking are all skills that require confidence, self-awareness, and responsibility and are also tremendously rewarding!

Pro-life outreach to our local community has been important to WCC from its beginning. Our students have had opportunities to pray with the 40 Days for Life Campaign in Wyoming, have attended the annual Walk for Life in Cheyenne, volunteered with the local pregnancy care center, Abba’s House, and participated in the Respect Life Sunday’s Life Chain in Lander.
