Travel & Campus Visit FAQs
Lander is located in the central-western part of Wyoming, next to the Wind River Mountain Range. The town stands about equidistant from three major cities in the Rocky Mountain West region: Salt Lake City (ca. 300 miles), Denver (ca. 360 miles), and Billings (ca. 290 miles). It is near several major national parks: Yellowstone National Park Southern Entrance (ca. 150 miles) and Grand Teton National Park (ca. 100 miles).
Wyoming roads are scenic and traffic-free. Since winter road conditions can affect travel, we recommend using Wyoming Department of Transportation’s Road Condition Website before travel (www.wyoroad.info).
The closest and best airport option is Central Wyoming Regional Airport (RIW), about 40 minutes from campus. This airport in Riverton, Wyoming is serviced from Denver International Airport (DIA) by United Airlines (www.united.com). One-way tickets from Denver to Riverton usually cost between $80-$120.
The Casper-Natrona County International Airport (CPR), serviced by Delta and United, is 2.5 hours from campus.
Salt Lake City (4.5 hours away) and Denver (6 hours away) have major airports and offer lower fares.
Shuttles may be available for Open House weekends and other events. Please contact the college to arrange this service.
