As Spring Semester Begins, WCC Welcomes Two New Members to Staff
The beginning of the Spring Semester is always a time of energy and excitement among the students and professors. This year, Wyoming Catholic College is pleased to add to that excitement and energy by announcing the arrival of two new employees to its ranks.
Robert L. Gomez will be serving as Director of Finance, effective immediately. In this role, Mr. Gomez will oversee the College’s financial operations, including budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, compliance, and strategic financial planning, and will work closely with senior leadership to steward institutional resources in support of the College’s academic mission and long-term sustainability.
“Robert brings a rare combination of deep technical expertise, proven leadership, and a strong commitment to our mission,” said Fr. Dcn. Kyle Washut, president of Wyoming Catholic College. “His experience in higher education finance and his record of disciplined stewardship will be invaluable as we continue to grow and strengthen the College.”
Mr. Gomez holds a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Accounting from St. Mary’s University and has completed extensive graduate coursework in accounting. His career includes progressively responsible roles across the University of Texas System, where he led complex fiscal operations, grant and contract administration, payroll, audits, and executive financial reporting. Mr. Gomez also served as Director of Operations and Finance for Assumption Seminary within the Archdiocese of San Antonio, managing comprehensive financial, operational, and human resources functions while supporting a faith-centered educational mission.
“I am honored to join Wyoming Catholic College and to serve an institution so clearly devoted to academic excellence and the formation of students,” said Mr. Gomez. “I look forward to working with the College community to ensure sound financial stewardship in support of its distinctive and remarkable mission.”
The College is also welcoming a new member to its Advancement team: Joseph Daly, who will be based in Phoenix as its West Coast Donor Relations Officer. In this position, Joe’s will focus primarily on further developing the College’s West Coast presence, and on creating even stronger relationships between the College and its generous supporters on the coast. Joe has been in Phoenix for the last few years since co-founding the Floriani Foundation, a sacred music ensemble and educational quartet. In addition to helping to found Floriani, he served as its bass and CFO from 2021 through the end of 2025, as well as overseeing the bulk of its fundraising efforts during that time. Prior to that he worked in public sector finance at the Small Business Administration.
“As I’ve remarked in the past,” Washut said, “sharing the story of Wyoming Catholic is a tremendous privilege. But we’re also looking to share it more widely each day, so we’re always looking for others who are eager and willing to help us share that story. Joe brings a wonderful energy and enthusiasm to our storytelling efforts, and I’m looking forward to having him working for us on the West Coast. And who knows? Maybe an Advancement barbershop quartet is in the cards!”
A veteran of the stage and the choir loft, Joe has also sung a season with the US VOCES8 Scholars and has performed in many musical and theatrical productions, including roles like the Pirate King in “The Pirates of Penzance,” Lancelot in “Camelot,” and Tevye in “Fiddler on the Roof.” He holds a BA in Liberal Arts from Thomas Aquinas College and an MS in Business from the Catholic University of America. He can often be found drinking coffee, enjoying a good book, or helping people reach items on the top shelf. (Joe is 6’7″.)
“I am both excited and profoundly grateful to be joining Wyoming Catholic College’s Advancement team,” says Joe, “and I am eager to help expand its reach on the West Coast. In only two decades, WCC has firmly established itself as a pillar in the landscape of Catholic colleges. Its combination of rigorous academics and its emphasis on beauty, wonder, and the centrality of Christ uniquely equip its students and alumni to succeed in the modern world. I very much look forward to getting to know the community better in the coming months.
