“Listen with Loving Hearts!”—Remembering Bishop Slattery

“[The New Evangelization] is directed by the Holy Spirit in response to
what the Church has learned by listening with a loving heart to the world
around us. This is your task as Catholics, and this is a task for which you
have received an extraordinary preparation here at Wyoming Catholic
College.”
Most Rev. Edward Slattery
Commencement, May 2013

The Wyoming Catholic College community was saddened to learn of the recent passing of Most Rev. Edward Slattery, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma. The Bishop served as our Graduation Speaker in 2013.

During his May 2013 visit, he was named the recipient of the college’s Sedes Sapientiae Award, “given annually to a Catholic who has made an outstanding contribution to articulating and defending the Catholic Faith in the Church and State of our times.”

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
