Father Godfrey Nnamdi Okwunka was born and baptised in 1981. He is the fourth child of eight children born to Godfrey and Beatrice Okwunka in the commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State, Nigeria. He has four sisters and three brothers.
Father attended Sancta Maria Primary School Onitsha, All Hallows Seminary, Onitsha where he obtained the senior school certificate and a diploma certificate in Latin, St. John of the Cross Seminary Ekpoma, Nigeria; Saints Peter and Paul Seminary Bodija, Ibadan affiliated to the University of Ibadan and Pontifical Urban University, Rome. He was ordained a deacon December 18, 2010; and ordained a priest in the Catholic Diocese of Issele-Uku, Delta State, Nigeria August 20, 2011.
Prior to his present assignment, Father has held various pastoral assignments, local and international. He served as associate pastor, St. Joseph Catholic Church Akumazi, Delta State, Nigeria; a Fidei Donum priest as formator in Petit Seminaire de St. Kisito Bougui and associate pastor, paroisse de Notre Dame de Perpétuel Secours Diabo, Burkina Faso from 2013 to 2021. He also served as Dean of Students and French teacher at St. Patrick College Asaba, Nigeria from September 2021 to July, 2022.
Among Father’s many interests are ardent love of music and dedication to building parish choirs, working with young people and events organization.
