Vulgate connects U.S. college students from any major with K-12 Catholic schools in Southern Europe. These teachers volunteer for 4 weeks in the summer, and Vulgate supports them by providing funding for travel & living expenses and an authentically Catholic curriculum for the English immersion classes.

Teachers: Lead Programs at Catholic Schools in Europe

  1. Current U.S. college student or recent college graduate (18+ years old).
  2. Strong interpersonal skills, able to engage and inspire students.
  3. Love their Catholic Faith and are excited to share it with young people.
  4. Resilient and ready to embrace new challenges.
  5. Eager to travel and teach in Europe for a month.

Schools: Select Candidates and Host Programs

  1. K-12 schools abroad with a strong Catholic identity select teachers from among the candidates provided to them by Vulgate.
  2. Host the summer programs at their campus in Southern Europe.
  3. Promote programs and manage student enrollment, including collection and retention of any fees the school wishes to charge their students for use of their facilities.
  4. Responsible for all program logistics and onboarding of teachers.

Vulgate: Helps Teachers and Schools Be Successful

  1. Provides the top teacher candidate profiles to K-12 Catholic schools for selection.
  2. Provides onboarding advice to schools for welcoming teachers to their campus in Southern Europe.
  3. Provides a basic curriculum to teachers, including a simple lesson plan and set of excellent Catholic materials, and basic onboarding assistance.
  4. Provides funding for teachers’ expenses (see details below).

Do I have to be an Education major? No, you do not have to be an Education major to be considered. We believe that anyone who is a native English speaker from the U.S., has high growth mindset, is mature and responsible, and wants to develop their leadership skills can thrive while teaching a Vulgate program. The transferable skills gained through this experience can serve you, regardless of your intended post-graduate profession.

What does the funding of teacher expenses cover? Since teachers give of their time, we have defined a basic level of covered costs, which are the majority of teacher expenses, depending on their individual spending habits and personal preferences.

  1. Flight, up to a defined reasonable amount;
  2. Housing, either procured by the program or selected by the teacher;
  3. Travel health insurance;
  4. Local public transport card;
  5. Meals or meal stipend, which will cover some food expenses.

Dates: Programs are 4 weeks in June & July, 2026

Locations: Current openings are in Lisbon, Portugal

Curriculum: English language immersion using excellent Catholic resources.
