Position Summary

St. Mary’s High School is seeking a dynamic, mission-driven science teacher to join our faculty.

This position will teach a combination of AP Biology, College-Prep Biology, and Project Lead

The Way (PLTW) Biomedical Science courses. The ideal candidate is passionate about

fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of science while supporting students in a rigorous,

faith-based academic environment.

Key Responsibilities

● Teach sections of AP Biology, Biology, and PLTW Biomedical Science courses

● Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans that meet diverse

learning needs

● Prepare students for AP exams with a focus on college readiness and academic

excellence

● Facilitate hands-on, inquiry-based labs and real-world applications in biomedical science

● Integrate technology and innovative instructional practices into the classroom

● Assess student progress regularly and provide timely, constructive feedback

● Maintain a structured, positive, and inclusive classroom environment

● Collaborate with colleagues in the Science Department and across disciplines

● Support the Catholic mission and values of St. Mary’s High School

● Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or a related field (Master’s preferred)

●Valid teaching license or ability to obtain licensure in the state of Colorado

● Experience teaching AP Biology and/or PLTW Biomedical Science courses preferred

● Strong background in laboratory instruction and scientific inquiry

● Excellent communication, organization, and classroom management skills

● Commitment to academic excellence and student-centered learning

●Willingness to support and uphold the mission of a Catholic high school

Preferred Qualifications

● AP Biology teaching experience with strong student outcomes

● PLTW Biomedical Science certification or willingness to obtain

● Experience integrating STEM and project-based learning

● Familiarity with differentiated instruction and data-driven teaching practices
