St. Andrew Catholic School in Helena, Montana seeks a mission-driven Head of School to lead our growing Pre-K–12 independent Catholic classical academy beginning in Summer 2026.
Founded in 1996, St. Andrew serves 240 students and is the only Catholic school in Helena, Montana’s capital city. The school is dedicated to forming students in truth, goodness, and beauty through faithful Catholic identity and the classical liberal arts tradition.
The Head of School works in partnership with a supportive governing board, dedicated faculty, and engaged Catholic community to advance the school’s mission and guide its continued growth.

Position Overview
The Head of School serves as the Chief Administrative Officer, academic leader, and spiritual steward of St. Andrew Catholic School.
Reporting to the St. Andrew School Board, the Head of School provides leadership in mission, academics, operations, and community engagement while ensuring the school faithfully advances its Catholic and classical identity.
Key Responsibilities:
Mission & Spiritual Leadership
Promote and safeguard the school’s Catholic identity and classical educational mission
Foster a culture of faith formation and virtuous leadership
Support liturgical and devotional life within the school community
School Leadership & Operations
Oversee daily school operations and implement board policies
Provide financial oversight and sustainable budgeting
Lead strategic planning and long-term development initiatives
Support fundraising and donor relationships
Faculty & Staff Leadership
Recruit, hire, supervise, and evaluate faculty and staff
Foster professional growth and formation in classical pedagogy
Promote a collaborative and mission-driven faculty culture
Academic Leadership
Oversee curriculum development in the classical tradition
Ensure strong academic standards and instructional excellence
Guide scheduling, teacher evaluations, and academic planning
Student Formation
Support student discipline, character formation, and school culture
Oversee extracurricular programs and student life
Community Engagement
Serve as the primary ambassador of the school
Communicate effectively with parents, faculty, alumni, donors, and the broader Catholic community
Qualifications
Required
Practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Magisterium
Demonstrated commitment to Catholic education
Ability to complete background checks, fingerprinting, Virtus Training, and Catechist Certification
Preferred
Master’s degree in educational leadership, administration, or related field
Minimum 3 years teaching experience and 2 years administrative experience
Experience in classical education and Catholic school leadership
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to build strong relationships with faculty, families, and community partners
