Through many diverse experiences of beauty, God has led John to Wyoming Catholic College, and He is now guiding John’s mission to share the college with others. John grew up in a small town in Northern Nevada and spent much of his childhood caring for his family’s homestead. He eventually started work at a local hay farm and became the irrigation manager in constant conflict with the dry Nevada sun. In his days off, he enjoyed hiking in the Sierra Nevada range with his family and fishing in high-altitude lakes. At the same time, thanks to the wisdom of his parents, John received a classical education throughout high school that planted the seeds of his love for the Great Books. While these seeds took time to flourish, as John spent most of high school seriously pursuing a collegiate golf career, they eventually led him to Wyoming.
After years of insisting he would never consider Wyoming Catholic College, John suddenly decided that he would come for “just one year.” However, he soon found himself immersed in the beauty and challenge of the 21-Day Expedition and the intense academic formation of freshman year. Wyoming Catholic’s powerful integration of community, academics, and adventure impacted John deeply, and he quickly knew that he would stay for all four years, aware that WCC was where he could receive the most meaningful education.
Now, living in Lander full-time with his wife, John looks forward to helping other young men and women along similar journeys in his role with the admissions team. He has developed a profound love for Wyoming Catholic College and will carry in his heart a deep devotion to liberal education and the Great Books for the rest of his life.
