Susan Thornton Rasmussen, M.A.
Assistant Instructor of Latin
B.A. (Liberal Arts), Wyoming Catholic College; M.A. (Classics), University of Wales Trinity Saint David
Susan Rasmussen graduated in the third pioneer class from Wyoming Catholic College and received her M.A. in Classics from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David. Her research focuses on the historiography of ancient Rome, particularly that of the 2nd century Florus. She has taught Latin of all levels to students of all ages, and is excited to be back at her growing alma mater where her love for Latin began. Her pedagogy is anchored in the immersion method, or “living Latin” model, and she has led and participated in Latin immersion programs and events around the country, including outdoor trips, week-long residential intensives, and shorter workshops. She has taught Conversational Latin at the Paideia Institute for Humanistic Study, assisting fellow Latin teachers and enthusiasts in developing their spoken Latin abilities, and facilitating Latin reading and conversation groups. Besides teaching, Susan also has worked as a Latin editor and translator for many projects, including contributions to an innovative interlinear, electronic version of the Clementine Vulgate, and indulges as much as possible her love of analyzing Latin poetry.
