David grew up in the city of Des Moines, Iowa, and spent a significant portion of his childhood fighting dragons in the woods behind his house. David graduated from Benedictine College in 2020 with a degree in Theology, and minors in Philosophy and Computer Science. While in school, David spent his summers in the Rocky Mountains, working as a counselor with Camp Wojtyla for three years. At the start of his senior year, David dropped out of college and joined the Benedictine Monks of St. Benedict’s Abbey, and after 3 months of prayer and study he discerned a calling to return to the world and evangelize to the Church in the wilderness. Since then he finished his degree at Benedictine and began working with COR expeditions in the summer of 2020 as an intern and backpacking instructor and started his full-time missionary position in the fall of 2020. David has certifications in wilderness medicine and CPR through SOLO, and has led numerous trips backpacking and rock climbing, and is eager to expand his repertoire to include many other activities, such as skiing, ice climbing, rafting, and canyoneering. His favorite pastimes include mountain biking, climbing, slacklining, ultimate frisbee, baking sourdough bread, and drinking coffee at just about any hour of the day.
