Christopher Hodkinson read Music at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge, followed by graduate studies at Emmanuel College with Prof. Susan Rankin. His principal research interests are in medieval liturgy in England and France and in sacred music from Gregorian chant to the Renaissance. He is a Member of Council of the Henry Bradshaw Society, for whom he is preparing an edition of the Old Customary of the Use of Sarum.

Always seeking a mutually-enriching balance between scholarship and performance, he has been in demand as a performer and teacher of medieval music and as an historical consultant for TV and film. His musical editions and arrangements have featured in recordings and on BBC television. He studied recorder and viola da gamba with Wendy Hancock, and plainsong performance with Dr Mary Berry, eventually succeeding her as Director of the Schola Gregoriana of Cambridge (2013–2018). As a student he was awarded a choral scholarship at Fitzwilliam College and was Director of Music at Fisher House, Cambridge. He was Director of the Schola Cantorum of Our Lady and the English Martyrs, Cambridge (2012–2016).

A native of Nottingham, England, he travelled extensively in his youth, and is now looking forward to sharing new adventures in the American West with his wife and four sons.
