Summer irrigator
Double D Ranch/Wind River Wild Horse Sanctuary
Double D Ranch is looking for a summer irrigator. The ranch is 7 miles north of Lander and raises cattle, horses, and runs the Wind River Wild Horse Sanctuary. The main focus of the position will be helping the irrigation manager with the day to day operation of the irrigation. This will require thoughtful and strategic use of the water resources. It will require using an ATV, a fair amount of walking, and a reasonable amount of strength. There is a combination of dams and ditches, pipelines, and some pivot sprinkler systems.
The position may include helping maintain fences, making/hauling hay, using equipment, and some limited opportunities to ride horses depending on what is needed.
This is an entry level position that requires a willingness to learn, listen, think, and work hard. It is the perfect opportunity for someone interested in the world of ranching and learning some of the basics that make ranching possible in the arid climate of Wyoming.
