Classical High School Teacher

Chesterton Academy of Northern Utah is an independent classical high school in the Catholic tradition. Inspired by the beauty and richness of the Catholic faith and a deeply classical curriculum, Chesterton Academy seeks to form young men and women to be joyful saints and leaders. We are seeking liberally educated men and women, committed to upholding the Magisterium of the Catholic Church, to join in this mission of guiding young hearts and minds to Christ.

Timeline: this job is for the 2026-2027 school year, beginning July 1 or as soon thereafter as a hire is made. We are looking to hire ASAP.

Position: our current faculty has expertise in a broad array of fields, and so we have flexibility in possible course assignments. The vacated position we are looking to fill is for Physics, Algebra I, and History, but we would also be interested in candidates with excellence in the Humanities.

The ideal candidate is energetic about helping young people grow in wisdom and love of the Lord, professional, growth-minded, interested in teaching at our unique school, and has a love for and experience in classical education. Candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, and must be able to pass a pre-employment background check. All faculty, staff, and Board members make a public pledge to uphold the Magisterium of the Catholic Church at the beginning of each school year.

Aptitudes: teachers at CANU are developed in 12 core aptitudes; commitment to and foundation in each are to be found in a successful candidate. These aptitudes are: Catholic identity, educational mission, subject matter expertise, fulfillment of professional obligations, communication, personal development, contribution to faculty culture, supporting all learners, classroom culture, academic planning, academic delivery, and academic assessment.
