Bring your family to vacation at a classic Wyoming ranch! Parents and children will enjoy the amazing natural beauty of the area and be renewed by time together and with other Catholic families. During the Getaway, your family can stay in your choice of lodge, cabin, or in your own RV. All meals are included so you have more time to relax. Spiritual programming will also be available daily including: Mass, Confession, rosary walks, and discussions.
Every day your family will be able to spend time together doing a variety of activities. Parents can stay at the cabin and rest or come along on a daily guided hike geared towards the kids. There will be interactive demonstrations of pioneer and ranching skills such as archery, black powder rifle shooting, trimming horses hooves, and blacksmithing. In the afternoon there will be games and sports such as soccer and kickball led by the staff. There will also be family-centered adventures including canoeing, fishing, and guided activities like mountain biking, hiking, horseback riding, float trips, and rock climbing. The day will be rounded out by a campfire with fellowship, singing, and Irish line dancing. When you arrive, our staff will meet with you to create a schedule for your stay based on your family’s interests and your children’s ages and abilities.
You can also easily extend your trip by heading to nearby Yellowstone National Park or Granite Hot Springs or hit the Snake River for a few days of Rafting or Fishing. The Getaway is designed to be a relaxing, renewing family vacation with a variety of options for each family.
The Host Family, Luke and Jess Dougherty and their 5 children, live and work at the ranch and play a vital role in welcoming guests and making them feel at home. They provide invaluable service for any group, including excellent hospitality and expertise in ranch activities and the local area. When they aren’t off on a road trip to their beloved mountain west, they are enjoying working on their little homestead near Steubenville, OH, homeschooling and raising pigs, poultry and kitties.
Family Getaway Lodging & Rates
The ranch facilities include 14 rooms of varying sizes. Most rooms in both the lodge and the cabins have a queen or double bed and several have a twin or second double bed as well. Most rooms also have plenty of space to add cots or sleeping bags on the floor, available from COR. Kids could also sleep in tents right outside of the cabins while parents sleep in the comfort of a bed inside.
- Main Lodge: The main lodge is home to the kitchen, dining area, and cozy communal spaces as well as four hotel-style rooms with private bathrooms and showers and a shared hallway.
- Cabins: There are 6 cabins, ranging in size from 1 to 3 rooms each. The 3 room cabins also have a large communal area. Each cabin room has its own bathroom and shower and most have a private entrance from the outside.
- RV Camping: Guests are welcome to bring their own RV/camper and camp onsite at the ranch. RV campers will have access to shared bathrooms, but no showers.
Lodging options become limited as the rooms and cabins are reserved, so book early for the best availability.
All lodge and cabin rooms are furnished, have electricity and running water, and all linens are provided. The cabins do not have internet or television and there is no cell service at the ranch, but there is internet access and a phone landline in the main lodge. There is no daily linen or cleaning service provided in any of our rooms, but there is a laundry facility available onsite for families to use at any time.
ACTIVITIES & PROGRAMMING
We strive to have daily Mass and regular opportunities for Confession and Adoration available whenever possible. There will be a large tent set up outside for the celebration of Mass as well as an indoor chapel to repose and adore the Blessed Sacrament.
A number of activities are available each day both at the ranch and in the local area. Maps and directions will be provided to various hiking trails, fishing spots, and other “self-led” activities as well as to the guided activities. Activities are organized by family, meaning that families choose and do the activity of the day together and are not split up. (The one exception to this rule is horseback riding – if a family has children who are too small to ride, they will have the option to participate in another activity with a parent back at the ranch.) At the beginning of each family’s stay, the COR staff will meet with each family to discuss the activity options and create a schedule for their time at the ranch. Options include hiking, rock climbing, canoeing, horseback riding, mountain biking, a float trip, and lots more! All activities are included in the cost of the stay with the exception of horseback riding, which is available at an affordable additional cost detailed below.
FAMILY GETAWAY RATES
|There are two different payment components to the Family Getaway:
